The Evolution of Forest Glen and Montgomery Hills
Those of you who have the privilege of living in Forest Glen and Montgomery Hills, you are on the cusp of seeing your neighborhood evolve. Evolve in a manner that will create a more vibrant hub where it should be ….around your Metro stop.
We have not seized upon the potential to bring more vitality, pedestrian safety, economic opportunity and affordable housing to your community for too long. As a proponent of “smart growth”, this has been a wasted opportunity.
I am committed to your neighborhood. I was proud to work with your neighborhood leaders to secure funding, for the first time ever, to finally move forward with a second entrance to the Metro on the other side of Georgia. It is simply too dangerous today.
If I have the privilege of serving as your County Executive,
– I will work closely with you and WMATA to make sure that we are realizing the full potential of the 8 acres of land they own. We can have residential and commercial development that is both compatible with the surrounding neighborhood and appropriate for a transit accessible site.
– I will work with SHA to do what we need to do to make Georgia Ave. safer for pedestrians and more suited for amenities. As the lead sponsor of our county’s Vision Zero plan, I am deeply committed to this cause.
– I will work with our county’s planners and the next County Council to make sure we realize the full potential of your extraordinary community.
I would love the opportunity to serve you as your next County Executive.
